Landric, just 5 weeks old, staring at his bumblebee nurse ❤️
Oh mama.
I’ll be honest with you…whenever it comes to sickness among our children, anything that has to do with breathing makes me anxious.
I talked about this over in my instagram highlight, so CLICK HERE to see it. It is worth the 5 minutes for yourself or to pass it along to another new mama.
***REMEMBER. I AM NOT A DR OR NURSE. I AM A MAMA OF 5 KIDS AND AM SPEAKING FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE***
It is a virus that is very contagious…as it can live on surfaces for up to 12 hours! 12. HOURS. Goodness. Get out the Thieves Cleaner, STAT.
It can last anywhere between 7-10 days, and peaks around day 4-6.
The virus needs to run its course, so everything you do to “treat”, is more about keeping airways clear and keeping babe comfortable.
Breathing matters. An infants normal breathing is 40-60 breaths per min. To count, set your stopwatch for 30 seconds and count their breaths. Multiply by 2 to see your baby’s range.
Look for pulling or sucking in. (go watch that video to see my son breathing as a reference)
