My Must-Have Birth and Postpartum Items

Pregnancy

Baby number 8 is on the way – and I have full intentions to leverage nesting to renovate my bathroom. #WhyAmILikeThis

My amazon cart is chucked full with the tried and true birth/postpartum items that you need to know about, because every mama deserves the best recovery and bonding with baby.

THINGS I USE TO PREPARE FOR LABOR & BIRTH

Pelvic floor and Core exercises – I love Macy’s program, and she has every stage of pregnancy, postpartum and preconception workouts that are helpful. You can follow her here on Instagram.

Preparing Your Mind For Birth – MASTERCLASS: Every single birth I walk through all my fears and create a playbook for when I lay down my peace during birth. If you have ever wanted to experience pain free birth – it all starts in the mind. If you wonder how I keep smiling during labor – its because of the work Ion my mind that I start doing 4 weeks before the baby comes.

Supplements

I keep my iron high and energy happy by taking 8-12 capsules of beef liver from PaleoValley. I will never be without organ complex as it has fueled my body with rich minerals and vitamins. If you want more energy, better sleep, great cycles, less nausea, and better postpartum moods/emotions, take these every day for 90 days. Best $111 you’ll spend. Click that link above to unlock 15% off to get it. The testimonies over in my highlight on instagram are worth looking at. I am hoping to skip all the discomfort of hormonal shifts.

I take B Vitamins and gojiberry puree for energy, stress relief, and to flood my body and baby with vitamins and minerals. Helps me sleep and I feel amazing as a pregnant 40 year old. Take 10% off with code SHAREYL.

Hydration is life, and electrolytes through salt make me feel so much energy and reduce swelling everywhere. In fact, this pregnancy I have had the LEAST amount of swelling in my ankles. I drink 2 packets of Raspberry LMNT. Delicious, too!

THINGS I USE DURING LABOR

Labor Gown – I got this one from amazon and it’s super soft. Has snaps for the shoulders for easy breastfeeding or removal after birth.

Earthside birth pool (link coming soon) This beautiful and dreamy pool is an upgrade from my typical fishy pool I order. If you’re doing a water birth – this is a wonderful option. Get on their waitlis

Pump to drain pool – I use this el cheapo and its great!

Diffuser + Essential Oils – Negative emotions lift away when using aromatherapy WORKS. I diffuse peace and calming, stress away, and rub valor on my wrists. I also put peppermint on a washcloth to help me with nausea and keeping cool during labor. USE CODE SHAREYL to get 10% off.

Bible tracks with music – Christian hypnobirthing app is what I use during labor and its calming/helpful. I like to listen to it before birth, too, since memorizing truth is powerful to recall and know in your heart when stressful moments arise during labor.

FAVORITE POSTPARTUM ITEMS

Diffuser + Essential Oils – When labor is over, I have a whole toolbox to use for my recovery and for baby. Frankincense for the baby’s cord, Digize for gassy nights, stress away for me as I am learning to breastfeed, lavender for perineum spray (healing and smell), and so much more.

SITZ BATH – This contraption is amazing for soaking your bottom after birth. You can do epsom salts with herbs. Promotes faster healing and reduces swelling fast.

HAND BREAST PUMP by medela – I get this pump every baby and love it. I am able to relieve engorgement and stash milk in the freezer. This one is so smooth and helpful – I have better results with this than I do with an electric pump. See more breastfeeding tools here.

Lanisoh Gel Nipple Pads – Mama don’t play. These have been so soothing while I have tender nipples. You need to check out my nipple highlight on IG, too. Be BLESSED.

PADS + DIAPERS for mom – I like these organic Rael brand! Comfortable and absorbent without harsh bleach or other harmful ingredients.

ROLLING CART – keep this baby at your bedside and load it with everything you need, so you can stay in bed. Diapers, snacks, paci’s, clothes, blankies, supplements, breast pump, all.the.things.

ITEMS FOR THE BABY

PACI’S – Love’em or hate’em – this mama gives them a try with each baby. I like to order a sample pack from Ryan&Rose – you can grab some for $5 off with this link! Here is a highlight from my IG to talk all about paci’s!

WIPES, SHAMPOO, DIAPER CREAM – Only the best for my sweet babies! I am a huge fan of Seedlings brand.

NOSE FRIDA – I am never without this nasty but effective tool. With this many kids – getting a cold is common and it can be a recipe for RSV with a little one. Love this tool so much. You can learn more about how I treat RSV here, on my IG highlight.
